Two different things

The directory lists 15 pubs and bars and 7 cafes (10 October 2026). Take any of them in the run-up to the summer season, when the beach brings visitors to the seafront.
With ChatGPT alone, the owner can ask for a draft of a reply to a group-booking enquiry and paste it in. Useful, but the enquiry came at 9pm, the draft was written at 11pm on a Tuesday, and the group has since booked elsewhere.
With an agent, the first reply goes out within minutes, asks the questions about numbers and date, books the table into the diary and tells the owner it has done so. The owner still decides about anything unusual. Both approaches are sensible; they solve different bits. This example is an illustration, not a client.
What ChatGPT is good for on your own
Drafting wording, tidying messages, summarising a long email, generating a first outline for an event. If you enjoy it, carry on, and do not paste customers' personal details into it.
What needs something more
Anything that has to happen at a set time without you: the reply to a new enquiry, the chase on a quote, the reminder before an appointment, the invoice that goes out when the job is done. That is where Dean Keating's list of jobs applies.
